A hilltop Roman Catholic basilica in Bandra, built in its current form in 1904 on the site of an earlier 16th-century Portuguese chapel. Its annual eight-day feast in September, the Bandra Fair, draws pilgrims and visitors of all faiths from across Mumbai and beyond, making it one of the city's largest religious gatherings. The basilica overlooks the Arabian Sea and Bandra Bandstand. Pope John Paul II elevated it to the status of minor basilica in recognition of its significance.

Did you know? Mount Mary Basilica's statue of Our Lady is believed by devotees of multiple faiths, Hindu, Muslim and Christian alike, to grant wishes, making its annual September feast one of Mumbai's most religiously diverse festivals.
