Fort, Mumbai
A large open maidan (park) in Mumbai's Fort district, flanked on one side by Victorian Gothic buildings including Bombay High Court and Mumbai University, and on the other by the Art Deco facades of Marine Drive-era apartment buildings, earning it recognition as the meeting point of the city's two UNESCO-listed architectural ensembles. It has long served as a public recreation ground, especially for amateur cricket matches on weekends. The Oval remains one of central Mumbai's few large open green spaces.
