Pragati Maidan, Delhi
India's largest museum of traditional crafts, opened in 1956 near Pragati Maidan and expanded into its current building, designed by architect Charles Correa, in 1990. Its galleries and open-air village complex showcase textiles, woodwork, metalwork and folk art from across India, alongside live demonstrations by visiting craftspeople from different states. The museum also houses the Hastkala Academy, which runs training and preservation programmes for traditional artisans. It remains one of the few Indian museums where visitors can watch active craft demonstrations rather than only viewing static exhibits.
